Wrhel Prepared Date: 6/1/2003 Summary Inventories,
stores, prices, and restocks merchandise displays in retail store by performing
the following duties. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities include the
following. Other duties may be assigned. Examines merchandise to
identify items to be reordered or replenished. Receives, opens, and
unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items
received. Ensures all stock in
the backroom is worked thoroughly and placed in the correct place; on the shelf
and in the backrooms. The store is to be
faced, two deep with labels facing forward. Stamps, attaches, or
changes price tags on merchandise, referring to price list. Stocks storage areas
and displays with new or transferred merchandise. Sets up advertising
signs and displays merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to attract
customers and promote sales. Cleans display cases,
shelves, and aisles. Sweep and spot mop the
floor nightly. Empty trashcans in
store nightly. Packs customer
purchases in bags or cartons. Transports packages to
specified vehicle for customer. Maintains a clean work
environment. Competencies

Experience
High school diploma or
general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and
comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group
situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add,
subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability
to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
